The International Shoe Fantasy Football League held its ninth annual draft in Washington, D.C. Highlights include a Matthew Lesko sighting, record-breaking instances of public urination, and a trip to a Washington Nationals game which no one can remember. Here are the other key points:
Draft Picks
-Ryan Mathews ($145) and Jahvid Best ($83) - the two most expensive rookies in the draft both ended up on the Castro. "These guys are really solid- it's going to be one big beef party in our backfield." said owner Kenny Reeb.
-Kevin Kolb ($45), the most expensive QB at the draft, went to Mano.
-Brent Celek ($30) and Tony Gonzalez ($7), the two most expensive TEs in the draft, will take care of Stavros' opening at TE. "We are excited to have two great options at tight end and we have not named a starter- there will be an open competition." reported offensive coordinator Matt Potalivo.
-Reggie Wayne ($127), Garrett Hartley ($5) and Baltimore ($5)- the most expensive WR, K and second most expensive defense all end up on the Stompers. "We will pay any price for what we consider to be elite talent, even if it a lot more than we should have paid and will ultimately hurt us in the long run." stated team owner McStallen.
-Ronnie Brown ($60) and Clinton Portis ($35) ended up as great bargains for the LA Rams and Mano respectively. LA Ram owner Coco Khoury, who was abandoned at a DC Metro station for several hours during the draft weekend, welcomed Brown to the team by sending him 6 pairs of team-issue ninja pants and a case of Sunmade raisins. "These are damn good pants, and they adapt well to the size of anyone's genitalia." noted Khoury.
-Otis added former top-5 RB Matt Forte for $86 and former top-5 QB Brett Favre for $1, and acquired WR Brandon Marshall and RB Adrian Peterson in pre-draft trades. "We were new to the league last year and took our lumps, and this year we are ready to compete and have our eyes set on the postseason."
-LaDanian Tomlinson ($23) was drafted by Greece Lightening, after 8 years of distinguished service to the ~Melonheads.
-Ben Tate ($45) suffered a season-ending injury hours after he was drafted by the ~Melonheads.
-"Sleeper" Chad Henne ($21) drew serious interest and ends up on Athens.
-The Rams added Calvin Johnson ($107) and rookies Dez Bryant ($52) and Brandon LaFell ($6) to their receiving corp.
-Bafana drafted 6 WRs, and 5 of the 6 cost a total of $8.
-Despite predraft reports to the contrary, the ~Melonheads did not engage in heavy bidding on any quarterback. "I'm not saying we are done making preseason moves, but we are ready to go to war with the players we have." commented owner Borgnine Emeson.
Rule Changes
The Doug Good Rule, which banned pick-ups after midnight EST on Saturday night prior to NFL games, was repealed. Players may now be added or dropped any time prior to 1 pm EST on Sunday as long as they are not playing in a game with occurs earlier in the week. If a player plays in an earlier game (i.e. Thursday night or Saturday afternoon), the player cannot be added or dropped until the blind bid period expires. "I feel exonerated by this news and am going to celebrate with some carmalized cheese pizza." reported Doug Good.
The Petros Rule, which permits wide receivers, running backs and tight ends to be used in the flex position, was added. This Rule may increase the prominence of tight ends in the league. "Finally, we got we deserve." tweeted I Shoe Hall of Fame Tight End David Sloan when he was informed on the Rule. "This came too late for me, but I am happy for everyone else that the persecution is finally over. Hopefully Israel will take note of this and stop bulldozing the settlements of my fellow displaced tight ends- Ricky Dudley, I love you man!" blogged Doug Jolley.

GM of GreeceLightning seemed a little upset after post-draft interviews.
Besides not being there in person due to their efforts to expand American Football into London markets, and having to rely on video conference and a drunk brother to relay bids, team owner/GM had more reasons to be upset.
Named after him, the Petros Rule was adopted after the draft and thus the team did NOT pick up a solid 2nd TE.
Also upset about the reporting of the highest paid Def, "We went out of our way to make news with the Jets Def, much like their fiery coach, and yet that news was misreported."
Guys I couldn't help but notice you have finally come to your senses and adopted the Petros Rule. If anyone needs another tight end, give me a call, because my contract with the Reno Mustangs just expired and I have been trying to become a part of International Shoe longer than Tim Brady.
Man, there is a whole lot of baldness in that picture
