The International Shoe Historical Society has reviewed the pre-draft rosters from 2003, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2012 and 2013 (information from the other years is not believed to exist or was destroyed by Nuttelman) and proudly presents the following information:
- For the 7 years that we have records, the average team began the draft with a cap of $384 and had $216 to spend. In 2012, the average team entered the draft with a cap of $371. In 2013, the average cap was just $359, which is about $260 less than the average season.
-The Manimals, who win the league about every other year, entered the draft with an average cap of $375 and had $225 to spend. That average was brought down a lot due to their 2013 keeper total (just $176).
-Anthony had the third highest pre-draft average cap ($420). Athens had the second highest pre-draft average cap ($431). Emeson had the highest ($443).
-The Mills-Reeb franchise had the lowest pre-draft average cap ($308). Their cap going into the 2013 draft was actually $308. AJFA had the second lowest ($336), followed by Otis ($345) and Petros ($372).
-The Manimals were at $375, Bafana was $419 and the Stompers were $394.
-The lowest recorded pre-draft cap numbers are Castro ($152 in 2012), Petros ($154 in 2008) and the Manimals ($176 in 2013).
-The average cap of the team that won the league was $421, showing that kept players tended to make the biggest difference in determining the champion.
Note that the records we used are franchise specific, and are not specific to particular owners.
